A low-phase noise frequency multiplier chain
Abstract
'In this paper a low phase-noise frequency multiplier chain from lOMHz to 480MHz, built in two stages and intended for use as a base for the synthesis of frequencies upto the far infrared (FIR) region, is presented. Different methods of frequency multiplication were used and the associated circuit diagrams given. To investigate the performance of the chain, its spectral purity was measured. Measurements were made both in frequency and time domin and a set of graphs have been given. It has been verified that this chain is very stable and that it can be used for frequency synthesis upto 300GHz.
