The Zede Journal is an open access (ISSN: 2731-2968) scientific journal published by the College of Technology and Built Environment(CTBE), Addis Ababa University since 1965.  All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review by an expert editorial board with specialized knowledge of Engineering and Technology.

Aim and Scope

Zede aims to advance and assist in the dissemination of engineering knowledge and methodologies in solving engineering problems. The scope of Zed journal includes a wide spectrum of Engineering and technology subjects including but not limited to:

  • Architectural: Construction Materials; Design and Manufacturing (building); Solid Mechanics and Structure; Energy and Environment; Materials Characterization
  • Civil: Construction Materials; Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics; Solid Mechanics and Structure; Dynamics and Control (structures); Materials Characterization; Energy and Environment, Studies on the planning, design, operation, and management of transportation systems and infrastructure. Topics include traffic flow and control, vehicle dynamics and safety, public transit systems, pavement and materials for transport, logistics and freight systems, and sustainable mobility solutions that address environmental and urban challenges.
  • Computer: Coding & Cryptography; Communications & Networks; Compilers & OS; Computer Architecture; Computer Vision; Signal/Image/Speech Processing; Embedded Systems; Distributed Systems
  • Electrical: Electromagnetic Waves & Antennas; Integrated Circuits & VLSI; Microelectronics & Devices; Power & Energy Systems; Signal/Image/Speech Processing; Communications; Embedded Systems

Focus on improving efficiency, productivity, decision-making, and safety in industrial and service systems through analytical, computational, and empirical methods.
  • Biomedical engineering: Research on devices, instrumentation, imaging, biomaterials, biomechanics, and computational methods that improve healthcare diagnostics, treatment, and rehabilitation. Emphasis on translational studies, medical-sensor design, medical imaging and signal processing, and the development and characterization of biomaterials and biomedical systems.
  • Chemical engineering: Studies of chemical processes, reaction engineering, process design and optimization, separation and transport phenomena, catalysis, and materials processing. Includes work on sustainable chemical production, process safety, process control, and the development of novel functional materials and nanocomposites for chemical applications.

The journal provides a platform to publish:

  • Original research articles,
  • Technical findings and discussions on engineering sciences, technology and architecture
  • Original research reports,
  • State-of-the-art reviews and communications in the broadly defined field of engineering science and technology.
  • Technical Notes of significant contribution may also be considered for publication.

Peer Review:

Zede Journal follows a double-blind Peer-review system consists of sending copies to anonymous reviewers only through the online journal management system along wth the reviewer guidelines. Each article is assessed by at least two different reviewers. The articles are accepted for publication only if the two reviewers approve for publication.

Open Access Policy:

Zede Journal is an open‑access journal. All articles are freely available online immediately upon publication. The journal does not charge authors any article processing fees (APCs) and does not charge readers for access. Published works are made available on our official portals at ejol<https://ejol.aau.edu.et/index.php/ZEDE> and ajol<https://www.ajol.info/index.php/zj/about> allowing reuse with appropriate attribution. Our open‑access model promotes equitable dissemination of knowledge and supports authors and readers worldwide.

Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts submitted to the journal are scanned against plagiarism detection database to verify originality. The journal uses Turnitin software to prevent scholarly and professional plagiarism, manuscripts are acceptable if their similarity index is less than 20%.
