About the Journal


The Ethiopian Journal of Education (EJE) is one of the reputable journals published in the area of education. It is among the few pioneers in the publication of educational articles in Ethiopia. Since its official launch in 1967, the journal has passed through series of stages to reach the point of reputation.

The aim of the journal is to provide access for research publications to a broad national and international readership including researchers, practitioners and students in education and related fields. It is also expected that EJE identifies cardinal educational issues of the nation and suggests solutions that would help policy formulations and evaluations.

EJE publishes original empirical studies, literature reviews, theoretical articles, methodological articles, book reviews, dissertation and thesis  abstracts, synopsis of major research, short communications, commentaries(comments on articles published in the Journal), and other relevant issues in the area of education.

Sources of Support:

Source of support for publishing articles in EJE is institutional funds; the processing and publication costs are covered by Addis Ababa University.

Peer Review:

The EJE employs a double-blind peer-review model. All manuscripts undergo an initial assessment by the journal editor. If they are considered suitable for peer review, manuscripts will then be a reviewed by a minimum of two external reviewers to assess its suitability for publication. Final responsibility for editorial decisions rest with the Editorial Board of the journal.

Open Access Policy:

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

The Ethiopian Journal of Education (EJE) is an open access journal. All articles in EJE are published open access with a Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 user licence. All charges for publishing an article in the journal are funded by Addis Ababa University, Institute of Educational Research. Therefore, there is no charge to authors.  Authors will not have to pay an article processing charge (APC).

Publication Scheduling:

The EJE is published biannually in June and December.

The EJE is published bi-annually by the Institute of Educational Research, Addis Ababa University.  Subscription rate for print copy per issue including postage is as follows:
