Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Aim and Scope

AJIS aims to:

  • Foster interdisciplinary research and dialogue.
  • Promote scholarship relevant to Ethiopia, Africa, and the global community.
  • Encourage evidence-based solutions to societal challenges.
  • Support emerging researchers alongside established scholars.

Types of Manuscripts

The journal accepts:

  • Original Research Articles (6000-8500 words)

  • Case Studies
  • Policy and Perspective Papers
  • Interdisciplinary Methodological Papers

Language and Accessibility

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in English.
  • Authors should ensure clarity for an international audience.

Submission Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • All authors must have contributed significantly.
  • The corresponding author handles all communication.
  • ORCID iDs are recommended.

Ethical Standards

  • The journal follows international publishing ethics and open access (e.g., COPE).
  • Plagiarism and data falsification are strictly prohibited.
  • Ethical approval is required for human/animal studies.

Peer Review Process

  • Double-blind peer review.
  • Authors must address reviewer comments before acceptance.

Open Access Policy

  • AJIS is an open-access journal, ensuring all published articles are freely available without subscription.
  • The journal operates under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY) unless otherwise stated.
  • This permits users to:
