Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

NOTES TO THE CONTRIBUTORS

 1. Ethiopian Journal of Behavioral Studies (EJoBS) is a bi-annual print Journal of the CEBS, AAU. Original research articles, meta-analytic studies, desk reviews and short communications of important theoretical and practical contributions in the area of behavioral studies are welcomed.

2. Articles published in non-peer reviewed proceedings, and books can also be submitted provided the recency of manuscripts is maintained.

3. Major components of the article include title and author/s, abstract (210 words), key words (a maximum of 7 words/ phrases), Introduction section presenting genesis of the problem, review of literature and research gap, and objectives of the research, methods containing design, research sites, participants (population, sample size, and technique), instruments, procedures, and ethicality, results, discussion, conclusion, recommendation and references.

4. The size of the manuscript should be 20-25 pages, computerized, 1.5 line spacing on one side of A4 paper. However, longer articles are also acceptable if the length is necessitated by richness of monolithic content, which cannot be presented in separate articles.

5. EJoBS follows the 6th APA Publication Manual for all citations, referencing and formats.

6. Language of publication is English. Use one form of spelling, preferably the UK English throughout the text. This should either be American (i.e. according to, for example, Merriam WEBESTER’s dictionary) or British spelling (i.e. according to OXFORD dictionary).Do not mix or switch between the two forms. However, works written in Amharic may also be published under special conditions. The texts submitted must be clear and understandable, and be in line with scientific criteria in terms of language and expression. All authors must avoid gender-insensitive and racist language. Use of discriminatory, inflammatory, and unethical expression (derogatory, inciting, defamatory, etc. languages) is unacceptable.

7. Upon submission of the article, the author shall attach a signed letter of acceptance of the following terms of publication:

  • That data and citations are authentic and not fabricated;
  • That data and ideas in the article are not plagiarized;
  • That pictures of humans are consented;
  • That the article has never been published in any other journal so far; and
  • That the article shall not be sent to any other journal once considered for publication in EJoBS.
