Abstract

This paper is disigned to assesswether there was any relationship
between correctness in answering and
accuracy in judging the correctness /
incorrectness of the answers the students
wrote. To achieve this ai.~ a test was
set and ad.inistered to 29 students
studying Physics in the Kire.t Progra •• e
at Bahir Dar Teachers~ College. Every
student _s required to indicate how sure
h.e was of the correctness of the answer
he / she gave to each ite. by writing one
nu.ber of the 5 point scale.
The results indicate that the
subjects neither rated 5 each of the
ite.s they got correct nor 1 all those
ite.s they were wrong in. The students'
conFidence ratings are discussed in ter.s
of Nonitor Hypothesis~ Fossilization~ and
teaching.
