Abstract

7he effects of climate change are severe in developing COllntries like Ethiopia
where agriculture is the dominant economy. The Remete Sensing and GIS based
analysis of climate change impact ;s crucialro help Ethiopia benefit the most f rom
the teclmoLogy. '!7Jis study aims al assessing changes ami varia/iOIiS in climatic
elements in Central Rift Valley and adjacent highlallds of Ethiopia where climate
change has resulted in food insecurity. Thirty five years data analyzed f rom 22
meteorological stations indicate that temperature ;s rising by O.3rC in lhe Cellfra/
Rift Valley alld by O.48"C in the Q(ljacent highlands every 12 years aLong with
iI/significant rise of rainfall in intensity
