Strict in situ conservation is one of the strategies to protect arabica genetic
resources in its natural habitat. Nevertheless, the strategy adds considerable
conservation cost to local households. leads to conflicts and
implementation. Thus, it is vital to identifY policy tools to resolve the problems.
The results of econometric analysis depict the existence of significant
heterogeneity among households regarding their obedience to the strategy and
associated costs. paper indicates a range of interventions such as creating
sense of be/ongingness, improving household income and reducing settlement
to the conservation area to enhance effectiveness of the strategy.
