Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the factors affecting the performance of commercial building projects at Lideta Sub-city. The study employed a causal research design and used a quantitative research approach. A survey was conducted by using 174 structured close ended questions which were distributed to 58 contractors, 58 consultants and 58 owners of building construction projects. Multiple regression was used to examine the causal relationship between factors that affect project performance and project performance indicators such as construction cost, construction time, construction quality and construction scope. The findings of the regression analysis showed that project cost management factors, project time management factors, project quality management factors, project scope management factors and project risk management factors positively and significantly affected performances of building construction projects. Thus, this study recommended that contractors, consultants and owners should give emphasis on addressing the correlates of project performances so as to increase the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of building construction projects at the Sub-city.
