Abstract

This report is published by the National AIDS Control Programme on a monthly basis. The major objectives of the publication are to:-
*Notify the current status of AIDS epidemic in the country , and provide information for decision making and future planning.
*Provide feedback to health institutions and collaborating agencies in the country . This copy is being distributed free of charge for over 350 government and non-government institutions. From January 1986 io April 1994, a total of 12,402 AIDS cases have been reported by forty-eight hospitals in the country. Other surveillance and research activities carried out in Ethiopia among different population groups have also indicated the extent of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and its progression.
